Aug. 29 (UPI) — Tropical Storm Julian formed in the Atlantic Ocean Sunday morning becoming the tenth named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season.
In its 11 a.m. AST update, the National Hurricane Center said Julian was located about 865 miles south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland and about 1,115 miles west of the Azores. It was carrying maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and moving northeast at 17 mph.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles from Julian’s center.
The NHC said Julian is expected to strengthen some Sunday night before beginning to weaken and likely becoming post-tropical by Monday evening.
