June 3 (UPI) — Twitter rolled out Thursday its Twitter Blue subscription service with extra perks in Australia and Canada.
The subscription service was developed to meet the needs of frequent Twitter users based on feedback from them, according to the company’s announcement. The Twitter Blue subscription costs $3.49 per month in Canadian Dollars, and $4.49 per month in Australian dollars, but Twitter, which has relied on advertising for revenue, assured users in the announcement “a free Twitter is not going anywhere.”
“This subscription offering is simply meant to add enhanced and complementary features to the already existing Twitter experience for those who want it,” the company said in the announcement Thursday. “Our hope with this initial phase is to gain a deeper understanding of what will make your Twitter experience more customized, more expressive, and generally speaking more [fire emoji].”
Among the extra perks offered in Twitter Blue, are bookmark folders to organize saved tweets, an undo tweet feature with customizable timer of up to 30 seconds to click ‘undo’ before sending a tweet, reader mode, customizable app icons, and “fun color themes,” according to the company.
Twitter Blue users also will have access to “dedicated customer support,” the company said. Such customer support means issues will be resolved in an expedited timeframe, Twitter told The Verge.
